In a stunning reversal of the 2019 election results, the ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government, led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, has been decimated by the TDP-led alliance, which includes the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and Jana Sena Party (JSP).
The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is leading in over 150 of the 175 Assembly seats and 21 of the 25 Lok Sabha seats, marking a stark contrast to the YSRCP’s landslide victory in the previous election. In light of the results, Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy has reportedly resigned.
Notably, only YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in Pulivendula and Botcha Satyanarayana in Cheepuripalle were leading among the YSRCP leaders. This election saw JSP leader Pawan Kalyan play a pivotal role in bridging the traditional divide between the Kamma and Kapu communities, contributing to the alliance’s success. Furthermore, TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu’s emotional appeal, framing this as his “last election,” resonated deeply with voters, significantly impacting the outcome.
