Canadian business magnate Frank Stronach has been arrested and charged with five offences relating to a sexual assault probe, Peel Regional Police said in a release on Friday.
Stronach, 91, has been charged with rape, indecent assault on a female, two counts of sexual assault and forcible confinement, the release says.
Const. Tyler Bell later clarified there was “more than one” complainant in the case. The alleged sexual assaults span from the 1980s to 2023.

Criminal defence lawyer Brian Greenspan said he is representing Stronach, who “categorically denies the allegations of impropriety which have been brought against him.”
“He looks forward to the opportunity to fully respond to the charges and to maintain his legacy, both as a philanthropist and as an icon of the Canadian business community,” Greenspan said in a statement.
Stronach has been released on conditions and is due to appear in court on July 8.
Stronach, who was born in Austria, is the founder of car parts company Magna International Inc. and father of former politician Belinda Stronach.
Stronach has been writing a weekly column for the National Post. Rob Roberts, the paper’s editor-in-chief, says the Post takes the charges seriously. Stronach’s column has been suspended pending the outcome of the charges.
