In a significant move for India’s agricultural sector, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on June 10, authorized the release of the 17th installment of the PM-Kisan Nidhi scheme. This was the first file signed by PM Modi following his swearing-in for a third term in office. The decision will see around Rs 20,000 crore distributed to 9.3 crore farmer beneficiaries by the end of the month.
The official release emphasized the government’s commitment to “Kisan Kalyan,” with PM Modi stating, “Ours is a government fully committed to Kisan Kalyan. It is therefore fitting that the first file signed on taking charge is related to farmer welfare. We want to keep working even more for the farmers and the agriculture sector in the times to come.”
Previously, more than 9 crore farmers received Rs 2000 as the 16th installment under the PM-Kisan Yojana. The scheme annually distributes Rs 6000 in three equal installments to eligible farmers.
