Re: Night mayor in the city; Ottawa names Nightlife commish, June 12
So those at city hall have now hired a person from Montreal to spruce up the city’s apparent lack of nightlife. Groan, I wonder what Mr. Grondin’s salary will be? (It will be about $111,000.) Apparently Grondin helped his native city Montreal in a similar venture. Believe me, Canada’s second-largest city always had a bustling and vibrant nightlife since I remember back in the ’70s and onward; it is renowned for its joie de vivre.
Perhaps by cleaning up panhandlers and drug dealing, not to mention the shootings in the ByWard Market area, the folks might want to hang out. This is such a joke.

NOT BUYING IT
Is Trudeau that out to lunch that he thinks Canadians are going to buy his line that the Conservatives, in not backing the increase in the capital gains tax, are against having the wealthy pay more? Is he for real? It’s not just the wealthy who are going to pay more … anyone who owns and wants to sell a secondary residence, cottage or business is going to pay that massive increase.

If the Liberals were interested in having the rich pay more in taxes, then why didn’t they just increase their tax rate? Simply increase the tax rate by one per cent for the tax brackets $173,205 to $246,752 and over $246,752. Then cut back the amount they can use as deductions such as donations to charities or put into RRSPs as this can greatly lower the amount they actually pay in taxes.
There, problem solved and the little guy won’t get dinged in the process.

GREELY
SHOULD POINT FINGER AT HIMSELF
So Trudeau wants to roll up his sleeves and solve the encroachment of what he calls the far right. He says it causes anger, fear and division. How utterly ironic. Those are the exact things he is absolutely guilty of fostering.

He believes his woke-left, ridiculous globalist policies and waste that are destroying this country are the way to go. People have had enough of having their basic freedoms, including freedom of speech, being taken away from them.
