MILLER CORRECT, IT’S NOT IMMIGRANTS’ FAULT

Re: Marc Miller says he’s tired of people ‘blaming immigrants for absolutely everything,’ online, June 11
Immigration Minister Marc Miller is absolutely correct. It is not the fault of immigrants that Canada has a seriously flawed federal immigration policy, but that of the Trudeau government. Justin Trudeau decided, based on nothing more than wanting to bring in more voters he felt would be favourable to him, that Canada needed 500,000 new immigrants annually. This has taken place during massive housing and health-care crises.
Such massive immigrant intake numbers, plus bringing in many thousands of asylum seekers, is simply unsustainable. Yet Trudeau is making no direct moves to improve things by reducing the intake of newcomers.

APPALLED BY BONUSES
Re: Public Service Notebook: Over $400M in bonuses for bureaucrats last year, online, June 13
I find it appalling and unconscionable to hear that employees working for federal departments, agencies and Crown corporations received bonuses of $406,422,221 in 2023-24.
These federal executives receive bonuses each year despite low rates of targets being met. They are paid excellent salaries, benefits and substantial pensions.
Private corporations compensate their executives well, but only if annual sales and profit warrant this. Stockholders benefit as well from this success.
We are the stockholders of Canada, but we are not seeing any rewards coming our way. We are just asked to give more and more to this government. We should have a say on where our money is spent. It should certainly not be on our heavily bloated public service.

KANATA
BLOWING HOT AIR
Just more hot air from Defence Minister Bill Blair, ranting about working on getting to the NATO target two per cent of gross domestic product spending for our military. Even if the government raised spending to six per cent tomorrow, it would take five years to be 80 per cent operational because of the current state the military is in.
The problem in Canada is too many New Democrats and Liberals expect others to protect us while we spend away on our socialist path.
