One of the news mounts in Final Fantasy XIV might be familiar to you if you’ve run the Dawntrail dungeon Origenics — Automatoise. This mechanically enhanced tortoise is apparently imbued with the power of many beasts, but how do you get it?
Before you can get the Automatoise mount, you’ll need to unlock the Dawn Hunt. These unlock with four different quests, each offering higher level Hunts and increased rewards. These quests are all picked up from Bol Ogaw in Tuliyollal (X:13.8, Y:13.7):
Hunt level | Unlock level | Quest |
Beginner | 90 | A New Dawn, a New Hunt |
Intermediate | 94 | Why We Hunt |
Advanced | 99 | Hunting the Hunter |
Elite | 100 | The Hunt Goes On |
How to get the Automatoise mount in Final Fantasy XIV
Once you have all of the different Dawn Hunt types unlocked, you should be able to get the Automatoise mount pretty easily in theory.
However, there is a problem. Like the Vinegaroon in Endwalker and Forgiven Reticence in Shadowbringers, the Automatoise will cost you 3,200 Sacks of Nuts, which is no small order. To get your Automatoise, talk to Ryubool Ja in Tuliyollal (X:13.9, Y:13.5).
How to get Sacks of Nuts in Final Fantasy XIV
If you’re going for this mount, your best bet is to join a Hunt Train and take down A and S Rank marks across Tural. It’s unlikely that you’ll be able to take these on solo, and even if you could it would take you far too long. One of the best resources if you’re looking for a Hunt Train to join is Faloop!, and their dedicated Discord server.
Here’s how many Sacks of Nuts you’ll get for taking down different hunt marks:
Mark type | Sacks of nuts | Maximum total per week |
Beginner daily marks | 3 | 105 |
Intermediate daily marks | 4 | 140 |
Advanced daily marks | 15 | 525 |
Elite weekly marks | 100 | 100 |
A-Rank Monsters | 40 | Endless |
S-Rank Monster | 100 | Endless |
It’s worth noting that you can collect Sacks of Nuts in both Shadowbringers and Endwalker areas as well as the new areas added in Dawntrail, so wherever the hunt takes you, those Nuts will soon pile up!
