CRIME SCENE: Toronto man, 55, wanted for fraud

A 55-year-old Toronto man is wanted for fraud and other charges after he was accused of attempting to open bank accounts under another person’s name last year.

Toronto Police say, between May 5, 2023 and Aug. 18, 2023, it is reported that the suspect entered six different banks in the Spadina Ave. and College St. area.

Police say the suspect produced fraudulent identification to impersonate the victim. The suspect also allegedly attempted to open bank accounts under the victim’s name and attempted to withdraw funds out of the victim’s existing bank account.

Luis Del Pozo is wanted for five counts of utter forged document, personation to obtain property interest, five counts of fail to comply with release order, criminal harassment, mischief, theft of mail, fraud under $5,000, three counts of fail to comply with undertaking, fraudulently redirect anything sent by post, and two counts of unlawfully sell or possess counterfeit mark.

MAN, 2 BOYS ACCUSED OF SCARBOROUGH CARJACKING

An 18-year-old man and two 17-year-old boys are facing charges following an early morning carjacking in Scarborough that included a brazen attempt to flee.

Toronto Police say, on Thursday at approximately 2:50 a.m., officers responded to a vehicle theft call in the Kennedy Rd. and Steeles Ave. E. area.

It is alleged that five male suspects, wearing masks to conceal their identities, were travelling in a stolen Volkswagen Tiguan.

Cops say the victim was standing near their own vehicle when the suspects approached. The suspects then assaulted the victim and made a demand for their vehicle keys.

Two suspects entered the victim’s vehicle and drove away from the area with the stolen Volkswagen in tandem, police allege.

Officers quickly responded and located both stolen vehicles, cops say. As officers approached, the suspects entered one of the stolen vehicles and intentionally rammed a police vehicle in an attempt to flee. The suspects exited the stolen vehicle and officers were able to arrest three of the five suspects after a short foot pursuit.

Miljazi Zorjani and two youths, of Toronto, have all been charged with robbery, disguise with intent, assault peace officer with weapon, and two counts of possession property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Investigators say there is no description available for the two other suspects. Both stolen vehicles were recovered.

TWO CHARGED IN STOLEN VAN THEFT

Two men have been charged after a stolen van was seen being driven in Scarborough this week.

Toronto Police say, on Wednesday at approximately 7 p.m., officer observed a stolen vehicle driving in the Markham Rd. and McNicoll Ave. area.

It is alleged that three males were inside a stolen white Ford van. The vehicle pulled over and all three males fled on foot.

Cops say witnesses in the area assisted officers in locating and arresting two of the suspects.

After searching the vehicle, police say officers found a firearm along with other weapons.

Sandu-Daniel Nae, 49, of Markham and Mughees Rehman, 32, of Toronto were arrested and charged with possession of property obtained by crime (over), possession of a prohibited firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle and possession of a prohibited weapon.

Nae is also charged with fail to comply probation

The outstanding man is described as wearing all black clothing.

SUSPECT WANTED FOR ALLEGED BRAMPTON SEX ASSAULT

Authorities in Peel are seeking the public’s help to identify a man suspected of committing a sexual assault in Brampton.

Police say, on Tuesday, between 3:45 p.m. and 4:45 p.m., the victim, an adult female, was walking along the Chinguacousy Trail near Central Park Dr. when she noticed that she was being followed by the suspect.

The victim confronted the suspect who then sexually assaulted the victim before leaving the area, cops allege.

The suspect is described as Black, 20 to 30 years old with dark hair and a slim build. He was wearing a blue and purple baseball cap, black T-shirt with a white Under Armour logo, grey basketball shorts, white shoes while also holding a black and grey sweater in his hands.

TWO WANTED FOR DURHAM BREAK-AND-ENTERS

A man and a woman are wanted for numerous break-and-enters at businesses east of Toronto.

Durham Regional Police say, on June 8 at approximately 5:15 a.m., officers responded to a break-and-enter at a restaurant in the area of Kingston and Dixie Rds. in Pickering.

Police allege a man and woman broke into the restaurant and stole a safe before fleeing in a white 4-door sedan.

Cops say investigators were able to identify and link the two suspects to other break-and-enters across Durham Region.

Jonathan Leigh Allan, 44, of Newmarket, is wanted for 19 counts each of break-and-enter, disguise with intent, and breach probation. He is also charged with break-and-enter with intent, eight counts possess property obtained by crime under $5,000, and two counts possess property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Nicole Bergman, 38, of Toronto, is wanted for three counts of break-and-enter, break-and-enter with intent, possess property obtained by crime under $5,000, four counts of disguise with intent, two counts operate conveyance while prohibited, and 14 counts breach probation.

BOY ASSAULTED DURING PICKERING ROBBERY

Police in Durham are looking for five suspects after a boy was assaulted during a robbery in Pickering.

Durham Regional Police say, on July 10, just after midnight, officers responded to a robbery call in the area of Kingston Rd. and Rosebank Rd.

Police say the victim planned to meet a friend in the area and parked his vehicle in a nearby lot. As the victim was walking toward a residence, he was approached by five male suspects.

Cops allege the suspects assaulted the victim, damaged his vehicle, and stole his shoes and cellphone.

The suspects fled the area in a dark-coloured vehicle, police added.

Police say the victim was transported to a local area hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
