Breaking, an urban dance style with roots in hip-hop culture, will make its competitive debut at the 2024 Paris Olympics; taking its place alongside the other sports included in recent years, like skateboarding, surfing, and climbing. Can we expect ballroom dancing to be added to the list in 2028?
Far more consequential is the pairing of trans athletes with female boxers, in match-ups in which the former enjoys a decided biological advantage. A case in point: Female boxer Angela Carini quit after 45-seconds after facing Imane Khelif, who failed a gender test at the 2023 World Championships. It was a spectacle we observed, not sport; like an episode from The Hunger Games.

They got the name right
So, city council has decided that the revised Phase I of the Green Line will only service 7 stops, down from 12 as originally planned. And the cost will be somewhere around $6.3 BILLION!Basic arithmetic would suggest that each stop will now cost an average of $900 MILLION! What better example of continuing Council lunacy that they are willing to spend that kind of “green” on a public transportation line that basically goes nowhere. Clearly this LRT line is appropriately named, to the dismay of most Calgarians. I can feel Council’s hands in my pockets already. Again.

Essential is not negotiable
Would somebody please tell Mayor Gondek that the Green line is not a necessity of life. WATER IS.

We can’t afford it
Why is our mayor not putting a hold on the new arena and Green Line until the infrastructure is repaired or replaced? She is spending $1.2 BILLION on the new arena instead of fixing our water problems. She is blaming the water problems on the previous council when she and most of the present council were all members of that council.
